I had been looking forward to my getaway to Zipolite. The previously scheduled getaway to Puerto Vallarta had been cancelled due to the Omicron variant flare-up and I had all but given up on a sunny vacation this winter until a friend suggested this. With an airline credit to use and enough days banked, I accepted the challenge of doing nothing for 10 consecutive days. Zipolite Playa, “a beach community located in San Pedro Pochutla municipality” (source), with its population of <1000, its boho, laid back vibe, and the absence of “all inclusive resorts”, made it the perfect locale to do just that.
I stayed at the great Casa Mixteca which delivered exactly what it promised – comfortable, clean accommodations. My “bungalow” was on the ground floor, on the other side of the interior courtyard, which provided all the quiet and privacy I could have wished for.
But being a creature of habit nonetheless, it wasn’t long before I developed a little routine, which included breakfast at home while, lunch at Emilia by Xhuba, and beach in the afternoons through the sunset.
