I was gifted my first camera before the age of 10. One of those old kodak instamatics that used 126 cartridge film, and cube flashbulb. I used it to document big and small events. I snapped pictures of my family over time, the last few days of high school and “shutter bugged” both my 10th and my 20th high school reunion. In some ways, my camera became my reason to be in rooms I otherwise felt I didn’t belong, more than once saved me from small talk, and often let me step into a comfort zone from which I could observe – and fade into the background.
Before the advent of digital, I had already amassed boxes of photographs. Birthdays, weddings, friendly gatherings… images that speak of a specific moment in time and can transport you there; that give you the ability to surround yourself with loved ones, near or far, or absent and gone.
My camera is my favorite travel companion. It witnesses and chronicles each one of my adventures and allows me to bring them back with me; to share them with others. This is what this site is all about. Who knows where I will be pointing my camera next – but you know it will end up here. Ready? Let’s go.
